Howdy,

First let me congratulate each of you who have been awarded the prestigious Bolashak Scholarship established by your esteemed President, Nursultan Nazarbayev expanding the opportunities to study abroad to the brightest future leaders of the Republic of Kazakhstan. This is indeed a noble visionary undertaking.

Texas A&M has been most fortunate to have among its graduates eighteen Bolashak awardees whom we have listed for you on this website as well as five currently enrolled students. As a group, I am proud to say that they have honored your country, the Bolashak selection process, and the academic departments at Texas A&M from which they graduated. We have enjoyed learning of how Texas A&M contributed to their success following their graduation and Texas A&M faculty, staff, and students learned much about Kazakhstan through the efforts of the students to introduce them to your rich culture and enticing cuisine.

With the expansion of the Bolashak program in 2005, Texas A&M was honored to be asked to serve as one of the initial partners in administering the program in the United States along with American Councils and Indiana University.  While some students applied to Texas A&M directly from Kazakhstan, several Bolashak students began their “Aggie” experience attending our English Language program and immediately become enamored with the Aggie traditions and the quality of the academic programs - 37 of the original 40 were admitted to their chosen academic programs.  The trend continues - 18 of the 20 attending TAMU’s English program have also have become full-time students.  Today Texas A&M has 60 Bolashak students enrolled in academic programs and have become the largest group of sponsored students.

Several of the students have exceeded expectations academically and will be participating in the Honors program.  Taking the initiative to develop leadership skills, the Bolashak students established the Kazakh Student Association thus becoming a visible group on the campus.

Please refer to the links, below, for more information.

Again, congratulations and welcome to Texas A&M.
