* See more information regarding health insurance and health care.

Students who are employed on-campus, and whose employment makes them eligible for University health insurance coverage, will need to

1) request that their employing department verify their health insurance benefit eligibility in the Employment Eligibility Certification (EEC) system. Fields in the EEC system allow the department payroll staff, or those authorized to use the system, to input information regarding the dates of assistantship, whether benefits are included, and the date University covered medical benefits begin and end

2) You will need to provide proof of health insurance benefits in person for the 90-day waiting period. There are several things to remember if you choose university medical insurance policies:

 Choosing university covered medical insurance.

  • • If you choose the Scott & White Health Plan, you must purchase medical evacuation / repatriation also known as accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D). There are two ways to do this:
    1) Complete the optional AD&D enrollment form at http://hr.tamu.edu/forms/#general
    OR
    2) Purchase separate evacuation / repatriation coverage through Associated Insurance Plans at http://tamuinsurance.com
or go in person to Dunlap Financials at 111 University Drive.
  • As a J-1 visa holder, you cannot choose the A&M 1250 plan, it does not satisfy federal requirements.

1.The following sponsored students whose academic programs are coordinated by Sponsored Student Programs (SSP) will have health insurance verified and do not need to come into the SSP office to show proof of health insurance, if one of the following apply:

  • Sponsored students whose sponsor provides health insurance coverage in order to participate in their program.
  • Sponsored students for whom Sponsored Student Programs purchases health insurance on behalf of the sponsor.
  • Sponsored graduate students holding assistantships using TAMU benefits in lieu of or in addition to insurance coverage by their sponsor should follow directions for all other graduate assistants.

2. The following sponsored students whose academic programs are coordinated by Sponsored Student Programs (SSP) will need to come in person to the SSP office (3rd Floor, Bizzell West) and bring proof of health insurance:

  • Sponsored Students whose sponsor does not provide insurance coverage
  • Sponsored students no longer receiving funding from their respective sponsors.
