Tourist Visa
Tourist Visa International students will be interested in the regulations below governing the B1/B2 visitor visas. The "visitor" visa is a nonimmigrant visa for persons desiring to enter the United States temporarily for business (B-1), for pleasure or medical treatment (B-2), or combination of both (B-1/B-2) purposes. Many students invite family members to visit the US on these types of visas. To add a dependent (F-2, J-2) to your documents, please refer to Inviting Dependents page. ISS can provide Invitation Letter to international students inviting a visitor (tourist visa) to come to the U.S. Please use the Online Letter Request System to request this letter. Please visit the Visitor Visas- Business and Pleasure for more information on visitor visas. Please refer to the I-94/I-94W page for information on length of stay, implications of staying longer than the date issued on I-94 and extension of length of stay. Travelers coming to the U.S. for tourism or business for 90 days or less from qualified countries may be eligible to visit the U.S. without a visa if they meet the visa waiver program requirements. Please refer to following pages for more information: NOTE: You cannot change status to a student if you enter the U.S. on VWP. Visitors are required to register with Department of Homeland Security (DHS) whenever they are in the United States for more than 29 days and change address. The visitor registers the address on the initial I-94 card. However, if the visitor moves, then the visitor should inform DHS by submitting Form AR-11, Alien's Change of Address Card within 10 days of moving. last updated: 06/2009
