Address Updates to DHS

The following was posted to student's neo accounts.

All foreign nationals (including international students and their dependents) living in the US need to report their physical address immediately to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) by completing form AR-11 and mailing it to the address listed on the form. Use one form for each family member who is not a US citizen, but all may be mailed together in the same envelope. This form must be submitted by all foreign nationals and updated within 10 days EACH TIME your address changes. Students must also go into the Texas A&M BONFIRE system and update your address for Texas A&M each time you submit a form AR-11.

Remember the address listed on form AR-11 must be your physical address (street or apt. address) not a post office box number. According to DHS statements, "Failure to report is punishable by fine or imprisonment and/or deportation."

Change of Address online is available on the UCSIS web site.

You can also download AR-11 (PDF) from International Student Services' (ISS) web site , in the Forms & Documents Section under F-1 and J-1 Handouts and Forms. You may also go directly to the DHS web site http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/ar-11.pdf

In the past, this 50-year-old immigration regulation about physical address changes being reported has not been enforced by DHS. However, the US Attorney General, Mr. John Ashcroft, announced on July 22, 2002, that this regulation is now going to be enforced.

Please note the following while completing the AR-11. If you never filed an AR-11, you must do it now.

The A number is only for people who are US permanent residents.

You MUST report your address change to DHS on Form AR-11 and to Texas A&M University using Bonfire.

Texas A&M University's address of International Student Services is:

Texas A&M University, 1226 TAMU, College Station, Texas 77843-1226

Date of entry is your last date of entry.

Port–of–entry is the airport you landed or border you crossed to get to the USA. It is stamped on your I-20 or I-94 or in your passport.
