Watkins Emergency Loan Fund

The Watkins Emergency Loan Fund is available to Texas A&M international students for emergencies only. This loan cannot be used for tuition and fees.

Eligibility: All Texas A&M enrolled international students are eligible.

Duration of Award: One-time loan that must be repaid within a specified time limit.

Application: An Application must be made with an ISS advisor in the International Student Services (ISS) office, First Floor Bizzell Hall East.


Emergency Tuition and Fee Loan

This loan covers tuition and required fees only. There is a time limit and there is an interest charge on the loan. The loan is designed to assist students who have not yet received the funds necessary to pay their tuition and fees.

Eligibility: Available to all Texas A&M students enrolled at least half time and maintaining satisfactory academic progress.

Duration of Award: One-time Loan that must be repaid within a specified time limit.

Application: Applications are available in the Student Financial Aid Office in the Pavilion.


Short Term Loan


Short-term loan funds were established to provide assistance to students who experience temporary financial difficulty in connection with educational or educationally related expenses other than tuition and required fees.

Eligibility

  • Enrolled at least half-time
        - 6 hours undergraduate, 4 hours graduate and Blinn
         Team for fall and spring.
       - 6 hours for undergraduates and 2 hours for graduates
         during summer terms
     

  • Making satisfactory academic progress at the time of application

Duration of Award

These loans must be repaid with interest within a prescribed repayment period ranging from one to twelve months. If the loan is not paid in full by the due date, both transcripts and registration will be blocked until account is paid in full. Past due loans are subject to all necessary collection fees, attorney fees, higher interest fees, as well as a negative credit report to a national credit bureau.

·         NOTE: Once approved for a loan, you will need to report to Room 233 Pavilion to sign a promissory note before funds can be released.

 

Little Loan


The Little Loan provides assistance to students who experience temporary financial difficulty in connection with educational or educationally related expenses. Little Loans range from $30 to $100 and are due in 30 days.

Eligibility:

  • Enrolled half-time

  • Undergraduate: 6 hrs Fall, Spring, and Summer

  • Graduates: 4 hrs Fall and Spring; 2 hrs Summer

  • 1.5 minimum GPR

  • Cleared of all blocks based on past due loans

  • Pay each Little Loan before receiving another; (only one outstanding loan at a time)

Duration of Award:

  • Payments are due 30 days from the date they are disbursed.

  • Loans 10 days past due are subject to a $5.00 late charge and the loss of Little Loan privileges for one year.
    If the loan is not paid in full on the due date, the student will be blocked for both transcripts and registration until the loan is paid in full.
