Transportation to the Bryan/College Station Area
Students moving in to College Station can take a flight directly to College Station Easterwood Airport (CLL) or to
nearby airports in Houston (100 mi), Austin (120 mi) or Dallas (210 mi). Students arriving at airports other than
CLL should arrange additional transportation to College Station. Available options are described
below:
- Call a taxi: Using the local yellow pages, you can find a taxi to take
you to your final destination. Be aware that taking a taxi from Houston directly to Bryan/College
Station could cost over $100.
- Purchase a flight from IAH (Houston) or DFW (Dallas) to CLL:
This may cost around $100 if purchased ahead. You may want to check out websites such as
http://expedia.com or http://travelocity.com.
- Reserve the Ground Shuttle from Houston: The cost for the Ground Shuttle
is $25.99 and they will pick up students directly from IAH and drop them off at the airport in College Station.
For an extra $5, they will drop you off at another location of your choice.
- Take Greyhound Bus: Students taking the
bus to Bryan should be aware that they will need to take a taxi from the airport to the Greyhound bus
station (which could cost about $40). Students should also be aware that Greyhound bus stations are generally located in parts of
U.S. cities that can be unsafe even during the day.
For students arriving at the Easterwood Airport in College Station, ISS offers an
Airport Pick-Up Service.
International Student Hostel: Available for students who first enroll
at Texas A&M for the Fall Semester.
University Apartments: Available for graduate students,
single-parent families, married students, or single undergraduate students without children who
are Sophomores, Juniors, Seniors, or non-traditional Freshmen (College Avenue only). University
Apartments offer a mature environment for students who have their academic goals firmly in view.
University Residence Halls:
- Students planning to live on-campus for the Spring 2010 semester should be aware that the
residence halls will open on Thursday, January 14, 2010 at 8:00am. This is one week after the
International Student Orientation on Thursday, January 7, 2010. It is your responsibility to
find temporary housing prior to moving on-campus. For information about temporary housing opportunities,
please visit the ISS Housing webpage or the Convention and
Visitors Bureau’s
List of Area Hotels. Unfortunately, the International Student Hostel is only available
prior to the Fall semester and will not be available in January.
- Students may request an early move-in date for their on-campus residence hall by sending
an e-mail to the Housing Assignments Office (housing@tamu.edu)
with your full name, UIN, reason for wanting to move in early, and the date that you would
like to move-in. The absolute earliest day that students may move-in to their residence halls
is Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at 8:00am. All students arriving prior to January 12th will need
to find off-campus temporary accommodations until you are permitted to move-in. In order to
move-in to your residence hall on either January 12th or 13th, you must submit a request to
the Housing Assignments Office. Exceptions will be handled and approved on a case-by-case basis.
Students are not guaranteed to obtain approval for early move-in.
If approved to move in early, you will be charged a per night rate for moving into your residence
hall. The total charge will depend upon the style of residence hall and the number of
nights you are there early. Remember, it is the student's responsibility to secure housing for
the duration of the student's time here at Texas A&M.
