This fortnight's feature: Eunice Overton
Eunice Overton, of International Student Services, was born and raised on the south side of Chicago, IL. She was an all-state volleyball player and won a 4-year full grant-in-aid scholarship to play volleyball for the University of Kentucky. While at Kentucky, she played on the USA Olympic festival east team in 1993 and made all-American volleyball honors. Immediately after graduating, Eunice toured the east coast and played professional outdoor beach tournaments on the New Jersey and Miami Beach shores. In ‘96, she decided to return to the academic realm as an Assistant Volleyball Coach and graduate student at Southeast Missouri State University. While coaching, she played part-time professional indoor volleyball for the St. Louis Spirits, until she earned her MS in Administration and Human Services in 1998.
In the summer of 1998, Eunice became the Head Volleyball Coach and Senior Woman Administrator for Athletics at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas. Eunice married Milton Overton in 1999 and later relocated to TAMU and began a career as an Sr. Academic Advisor for BIMS department at the Vet School. She joined the IPO staff as an International Student Advisor in 2006. She has two boys, Micaiah, 7, and Lebbeus, 3.
Eunice has just been promoted to a Program Coordinator (see announcement below) and is currently finishing up a second Masters degree in Higher Education Administration at TAMU. When asked “Why ISS?” she answers, “I love developing and coordinating programs for the international student population. I am known for my competitive nature and outgoing attitude, and working in ISS is a perfect match, because there is never a dull moment.”
Congratulate Eunice on her promotion and/or challenge her to a on-on-one volley or stop by her new office in Bizzell Hall west just to say "Hello."

Recognition: Promotions in ISS
Please help us congratulate our newest Program Coordinators in ISS: Ms. Eunice Overton and Ms. LaCrecia Francis. Both have been excellent colleagues, and we look forward to working with them in this new capacity. Please be aware that there will be a re-shuffling of offices in the next weeks as a result. More information on this will be available when those issues are finalized.
Thanks,
Suzanne Droleskey
Story: Back from the Outback
Kasey Miller, IPO Main Office student worker, had the opportunity to travel extensively through Fiji and Queensland, Australia. She studied Natural Resources in the Wet Tropics, Outback, and the Great Barrier Reef. Kasey would love to share her study abroad experiences with anyone who is interested. In the photograph is Kasey with Kaba, the Koala. Kaba means "very best mate" in Australia, and he gets 20 hours of sleep per day.
STORY: OLAP-Brown Bag Luncheon
The Office of Latin American Programs held their Brown Bag Luncheon on Wednesday, June 25, 2008. The attendees were treated to a traditional card game of Loteria, where questions were asked and the players had to know the answer before covering the space with the dried bean. This was a wonderful way to find out information about Latin America and other different subjects on the Loteria Card. Prizes were awarded to the winners. Traditional desserts and a cook book were given to the attendees. Everyone had a wonderful time. Hat’s off to the Office of Latin American Programs on a program well done.
STORY: Going Away......
IPO Student Technician, Patrick Steck will be leaving for Brazil on July 2, 2008 to Study Abroad. He will be away from the main office until August 4, 2008 enjoying (and studying)the geographical sights of that country.
OIO Student Worker, Daniel Graham will be studying abroad in Germany and will not return to his position until early August.
We wish these two the best of luck and hope that they enjoy this wonderful opportunity to visit these wonderful locations. If you get a chance to wish them well before they leave please do so. If not, we will have to wait until they return to hear the wonderful stories and experiences that they had while being away.

BIZZELL WIRED FOR WIRELESS As you may have already noticed, the wireless access points in Bizzell West are active. The equipment has been installed for weeks but a part needed to power the system was on backorder. The wireless access is WPA secured so there are several steps you must go through in order to connect. The instructions are located at https://hdc.tamu.edu/reference/documentation/?section_id=729 If you need assistance with the setup process please let me know. Bizzell East will be active as soon as the work on the first floor is complete.
Please note that the WPA secured access requires logging in using your NEO ID and password so it is only accessible by students, faculty and staff.
