Carmen Suen Carmen Suen is the program coordinator for the Institute for Pacific Asia. Prior to joining IPA, Carmen was a copywriter at Dae Advertising in San Francisco, where she helped create advertising campaigns for several Fortune 500 companies. Born and raised in Hong Kong, Carmen earned her undergraduate degree in English at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Upon graduation, she worked as a consultant in public relations, and organized various press events. Soon after, she became a journalist herself and has written numerous articles covering a wide range of interests, namely, food, travel, health, fashion, and beauty. During her 7 years as a journalist for major magazines in Hong Kong, she traveled extensively throughout Asia and beyond. Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, England, France, Spain, Italy, Madagascar, and the Maldives are some of the countries she has visited. On the home front, her 4-year old son, Genghis, keeps her busy most of the time. And, when she has a break, Carmen enjoys reading, cooking, knitting, or just chilling out with husband Gary. Carmen speaks English, Mandarin, and Cantonese.
