IPA Programs and Activities IPA makes a concerted effort to collaborate with the Asia Pacific Region to build effective partnerships for the development of academic, scholarly and professional projects. IPA brings together academics and professionals to address key issues of mutual interest to the United States and Asia Pacific including:
Pacific Asian Outreach and Assistance Program
Research and Development IPA leads internationally focused projects in support of academic and professional exchange. Selected projects Chinese-US Higher Education Policy-makers' Intellectual Property Rights and Technology Transfer. Chinese and U.S. Universities partner to study models for the management of intellectual property and technology transfer. U.S. State Department. Building an Agenda for Public Under-standing of Science. Delegations from the United States, China and Japan come together to formulate research priorities related to the public understanding of science. Partners include National Academy of Sciences; Association of Science & Technology Centers; Children's Television Workshop; NOVA. Jointly sponsored by the National Natural Science Foundation - China, Japan Science and Technology Agency, and U.S. National Science Foundation. Social Studies Educators' Workshop. Teachers, scholars and researchers develop a workshop for social studies educators focusing on Australia through Texas A&M's World Scholars Program. The grant was the first ever awarded in the U.S.. Australian Studies Association of North America. American Association of Colleges & Universities (AAC&U) U.S. - Japan Initiative. Texas A&M and Osaka University partner to develop a reciprocal exchange program. Texas A&M is one fifteen universities selected nationwide. U.S. Department of Education. Developmental visit for Research Experiences for Undergraduate (REU) in Taiwan Texas A&M and six leading universities in Taiwan partner to develop summer research experiences in Geosciences, Information Technology, and Nanotechnology.
