Oct 20 - Texas A&M students bring Chinese poetry to Aggieland

October 12 ,2008-

In the evening of October 12 at the Memorial Student Center of Texas A&M University, a large audience at the  Mid-Autumn Festival & National Day Variety Show greeted eight American students’ Chinese poems  and tongue twister performance with claps and cheers.

Confucius Institute language instructor, Ms. Zhou Rong, directed the performance. By six performers were from her Chinese 201 colleague class.  Sophomore International Business major Derek Han told the audience that it was his second semester studying Chinese from Ms. Zhou. He loved Chinese and Chinese poems.  His poem “On the Stork Tower (登鹳雀楼)” received one of the loudest crowd reactions .   

The Mid-Autumn Festival & National Day Variety Show, hosted by the Chinese Scholars and Students Association at Texas A&M University every year, is a grand celebrating of Chinese arts and culture on A&M campus. Over 400 faculty members, students and their families attended the two-hour variety show.
