Building the New European Order
By Raymond Brown

Abstract:
The European Union holds the possibility of transforming the continent into a pivotal global state, provided the continent’s leaders keep the Union focused. This commentary looks at the risk that European leaders are taking in rapid EU expansion, as well as some of the divisions and problems that still stand in the way of unlimited EU growth.

Post-colonialist Perceptions of Lewis’ “Out of the Silent Planet”
By Cyrus Javadi

Abstract:
British author C.S. Lewis is well known for his writings as a Christian apologist. However, in the 1940’s Lewis penned a science fiction/fantasy story which presents his views on an entirely different subject. Out of the Silent Planet is a light and lively story about a journey to an alien planet. Though intended for enjoyment, it includes more earnest notions. I believe that Out of the Silent Planet reveals Lewis’ opinions pertaining to what we know as “Post-Colonial” thought. This paper will summarize Out of the Silent Planet and illustrate the Post-Colonial themes, which are found throughout.
