"I decided to study abroad as a means of diversifying my professional skills, not to mention my career opportunities. Studying abroad is one of the best ways to broaden one’s awareness of the complex issues surrounding this new international/global era in which we live. It helped me perfect my language skills and gain knowledge of the political, social, and economic issues the world faces today. Furthermore, I believe the personal experiences I gained will help me to be a better leader to welcome challenges, and to challenge the status quo." Participant in 2002 Study Abroad Program |

Here is your opportunity to see and experience one of the world's most ancient cultures and modern economies first-hand during a 10-week study abroad to Qingdao, China (home of Ocean University, TAMU's partner institution for the Confucius Institute). Qingdao is a beautiful coastal city and was the host for several events of the 2008 Olympics, including sailing competitions. You will spend the first 4 weeks immersing yourself in Chinese culture through language and communication courses. Part of your studies will include a range of field trips visiting museums, business and historical sites. Upon completing the 2 courses, you will spend 3 weeks traveling to Qufu, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Macau, Xi'an, and Beijing. Finally, students will have the opportunity to be placed with Chinese companies as part of a 4-week internship program to gain a deeper and richer understanding of Chinese business culture. The Spring Program Orientation will include basic Chinese language instruction. ALL MAJORS ARE WELCOME! Additional Links
