“The New Face of the Brazilian Economy & External Policy”

Floriano Filho, a native of Brazil, is a 2007-2008 Fulbright/APSA Congressional Fellow. He is a senior journalist on leave from the Brazilian TV Senado (equivalent to C-SPAN 2) where he was a presenter and the editor-in-chief of a show on external policies. Mr. Filho holds a M.S. in Broadcast Journalism from Columbia University’s Journalism School and an M.A. in Telecoms Regulation from the University of Westminster. He was also a research student in Hitotsubashi University in Tokyo and a Reuters Fellow at the Green College, University of Oxford. His interest for trade initially came from reporting for a Sao Paulo-based magazine dealing with international trade, transportation and logistics. In addition to his work as a journalist, he also served as communications assistant and acting spokesperson at the Brazilian Ministry of Finance and at the Internal Revenue Service. As part of his fellowship, he is presently working in the office of Congressman Brian Baird (D-WA).
