Board Overview

Composition of the Board

The International board, comprised of about 40 leaders in business, government, education, and other areas was created in 1992 by President of Texas A&M University.

Charge of the International Board

  • To advise the University on international program development and areas of emphasis;
  • To participate in the University's international activities;
  • To assist in building a international network for the University; and
  • To promote international awareness
  • Board Meetings

  • The Board meets twice a year. The fall meeting is in mid October and the Spring meeting is in early April.
  • A Preliminary agenda will be sent to Board members at least 6 weeks in advance.
  • A briefing book for the Board meeting will be sent to board members at least 3 weeks in advance.

    Executive Committee

    An Executive Committee meets prior to the biannual meetings to help set the agenda and provide direction for the Board's activities.

    Executive Committee is composed of seven members.  Five are permanent founding members.  Two are rotating members with two-year terms.

    Nomination, Selection and Appointment of Board Members

  • Board members, Texas A&M faculty and administrators and friends of Texas A&M can provide nominations to the Board.
  • The Executive Committee is responsible for the review and selection of Board members.
  • Board appointments will be made by the Executive Vice President and Provost based on the recommendations of the Executive Committee.
  • Workgroups

    Board members will be asked to form workgroups to provide guidance and support on University issues that require special attention.
